Manager, Special Projects

The Manager of Special Projects is responsible for both undertaking and assisting the Senior Manager in the planning and execution of special projects within the Group Managing Director’s office. Key tasks include research, analysis, strategic planning, tracking progress, reporting on outcomes and ensuring alignment with organizational goals. This position requires strong organizational, communication, collaboration and project management skills, with a focus on driving successful project completion.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

 

1. Government Affair Management:

  • Effectively manage relationships with government agencies, regulatory bodies, and key stakeholders.
  • Prepare database of government policies, regulations and legislative developments (excluding those related to CAAM) that may impact the organization through external and internal stakeholders’ engagement and networking.

 

2. Stakeholder Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including government officials, industry associations and business partners.
  • Conduct research and analysis for coordination of tasks and projects with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work closely with the Senior Manager to execute the plan for troubleshooting and addressing any operational issues both internally and externally.

 

3. Special Projects:

  • Lead and assist in planning, executing and delivering special projects.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Manager and other stakeholders to ensure project goals are met within set timelines and budgets.
  • Conduct research and analysis to inform project planning and decision-making.
  • Provide recommendations based on findings to improve project execution and outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, schedules and milestones.

 

4. Secretariat Functions:

  • Conduct research and analysis on special projects and assist Senior Manager in execution of initiatives as assigned by the GMD, ensuring alignment with the organization’s strategic goals.
  • Facilitate the monitoring of strategic projects progress to ensure timely deliverables.
  • Facilitate in organising confidential records, documents and correspondence, ensuring accessibility and security.

 

5. Team Management:

  • Mentor the team of professionals within, fostering a high-performance culture and promoting continuous learning and development.
  • Oversee the performance and development of team members.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance or a related field. Proven experience (typically 5+ years) in government affairs, corporate strategy or a related role.
  • Proven experience in managing government relations and working with regulatory bodies and government agencies.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • High level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism in handling confidential and sensitive information.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a strategic mindset and the ability to think critically and analytically.
