RAYA AIRWAYS ADDS BOEING 767-200 TO ITS FLEET

Poised to Continue to Grow in the Asia-Pacific Region

Kuala Lumpur, 26 December 2022 – Regional operator, Raya Airways Sdn Bhd (Raya Airways), today welcomed an additional Boeing 767-200 freighter from the United States based lessor Air Transport Services Group Inc, a leading provider of aircraft leasing and air cargo transportation. The newly inducted aircraft will offer Raya Airways an additional payload capacity of over 40 tonnes of cargo per flight, allowing Raya Airways to expand its customer portfolio, network footprint and cargo capacity.

Raya Airways’ Group Managing Director, Mohamad Najib Ishak, said, “The latest Boeing global market forecast[1] calculates that up to 2041 the world’s cargo fleet will require 2,800 additional new production and converted freighters to compensate for anticipated growth and for fleet replacement programmes.”

“Asian airfreight companies will lead this demand for dedicated air cargo lift, as this traffic lane is predicted to increase by more than 4% annually over the next 20 years. Having worked with ATSG before, we are confident that they can provide us with dedicated capacity and maintenance capabilities to support our expansion plans,” he added.

The Boeing research predicts that the Asian region’s freighter aircraft deliveries will rise by a world-leading 38% during the period, whether they’re newly delivered from the factory or delivered after a conversion from passenger to freighter.

Raya Airways currently covers regional hubs such as China (including Hong Kong), Indonesia, Singapore and Vietnam as well as prime commercial centres in East Malaysia. With the additional aircraft, the prospects of opening new routes and new customers will be further enhanced.

ATSG’s Chief Strategy Officer, Mike Berger said, “At ATSG, we greatly value our longstanding partnership with Raya Airways and we are delighted to be able to deliver the B767-200 and demonstrate our continuing commitment towards Raya Airways now and in the future.”

“Over the years, ATSG has built an impressive portfolio of transportation services to meet the aviation needs of our customers. Together with our Commercial team we will maximise the value ATSG has to offer to Raya Airways. We look forward to being part of Raya Airways’ growth journey in the Asia Pacific region,” he added.

Earlier this year, Raya Airways made inroads into Nanning, China and Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam in line with its strategic direction to strengthen its network and frequency. It plans to further venture into new markets in the Asia Pacific region.
